The tour begins with a visit to the most important Cañari-Inca Complex in Ecuador. You will learn more about these two cultures during the excursion. Then we will have lunch in an area restaurant. We will continue on to the artisan towns of Chordeleg and Gualaceo. In Chordeleg you will see up close the making of fine filigree jewelry and hand-made ceramic pottery. In Gualaceo you will have the opportunity to walk through the fruit and vegetable markets full of fresh produce. There is also a visit to the Macanas workshop and their IKAT technique (an ancestral style of weaving).
Tips: Wear comfortable hiking shoes. Light warm clothing. The Ingapirca area is windy and usually a chilly 10 degrees C. (50 F.). Gualaceo and Chordeleg, however, are in a subtropical valley where the climate is warm. Bring sun screen, windbreaker, and rain gear. Drinks: bottled water, juices. Cash for extra items.
