per person

Day 1: Transfer in / Pick up – Cuenca city tour half day + bike tour

The visit of the beautiful city of Cuenca includes places like the picturesque and traditional Barrio de San Sebastián, the Museum of Modern Art, the Calderón Park, the Plaza de las Flores, the Sagrario Cathedral (Old Cathedral), the Immaculate Conception Cathedral (New Cathedral) considered the largest in Latin America.  Also included is a visit to a famous Toquilla Straw Hat Factory, where you can see the making of the finest hats.

In addition, we travel through the majesty and charm of the Barranco where the architecture meets the natural environment. Finally, we arrive at the “Mirador de Turi” where the landscape of a valley full of red roofs and blue domes is framed by imposing mountains

Afterwards we will enjoy a typical lunch. Our guide will accompany the passengers back to the hotel to get ready for the bike tour around the outskirts of Cuenca. This is a half-day tour and covers approximately 20 miles. You’ll bike most of it, along riverside trails and back roads with very little traffic, exploring the new part of town, lovely parks, ancient ruins and historic buildings. This tour in Cuenca will take you to visit the Puente Roto, the ancient Inca city of Pumapungo, Paraiso Park, the old train tracks, Quinta Bolivar, San Joaquin and El Barranco.

The level of demand for the bike tour is moderate, and the duration is approximately 4 hours, all depending on the physical condition of the tourists.

Return to the hotel.

Day 2: Full day trekking to Cajas National Park

Pick up at the hotel (time to be established with the tourists, preferably no later than 9AM)

Transfer from Cuenca to the Cajas National Park, you will go directly to the area of Llaviuco, in the lower part at 3100 meters above sea level, this trail is flat and easy to walk through the forest, it takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then we continue the visit towards the highest zone of the Park called Tres Cruces (4,160 m.a.s.l. approx.) there we will have a panoramic view of the park with time for photography and explanations of the guide.

After visiting “Tres Cruces” we will be transferred by vehicle to the Toreadora Lagoon, where we will visit the Interpretation Center. Then we start a 2h30 walk at an altitude ranging from 3900 to 3600 meters above sea level.  The walk crosses the Polylepis Forest called “San Luis”, then they go to the United Lagoons, Totoras Lagoon and Patoquinuas Lagoon. At the end you will return to Laguna Toreadora or in case we have more than 3 pax in the tour will end in the parking lot of Patoquinoas.

Lunch at a local restaurant (drinks not included) Return to the city at approximately 16:30

Day 4: Canyoning

The tour starts at 9:00am, tourists are picked up from their hotel and we head to the area of Rio Amarillo located 10 km from the historical center of the city.

Once in Rio Amarillo, our guides will give the respective indications of the activity and will deliver the necessary equipment to practice the canyoning such as: harnesses, wetsuits, ropes, carabiners, helmets, etc. After a 25-minute walk we arrive at the starting point where the fun begins.

Canyoning consists of descending high riverbeds. We will go through natural obstacles such as waterfalls, water ponds, natural slides, etc. We will use different techniques such as walking along the banks, moving in the water, swimming and diving to pass siphons, walking on gravel pits, climbing and vertical descent using rappel techniques. This sport is perfect for adventure and adrenaline lovers

It is recommended: To carry a personal backpack (for the equipment, we recommend that it has a minimum capacity of 20 liters), to wear bathing suit, sports shoes that are non-slip or have good grip because they will be used in the water, this will prevent them from slipping on the stone. If passengers wish to carry cameras or cell phones, they should be aware that they may get wet, so we recommend that they carry a “dry bag”, especially for this type of activity.

Additionally, a towel, extra clothes and shoes should be left in the vehicle so that they can change clothes on their return.  Do not carry valuables, wallets, passports, etc.

Return to the hotel

NOTE: If the weather is not suitable according to the experience of the guides, to give security to the passengers the tour is CANCELLED and depending on the advance of the tour changes of date and/or cancellation policies are applied.
